We love knitting stripes!

By emy Monday, March 02, 2009
Hardly anyone sees me doing much colorwork. I don't usually go for multi-color hues unless I am using a variegated yarn. And stripe patterns don't appeal to me as I consider most of them very loud and gaudy.

But the recent spate of striped projects going around in this place is making me re-think.

Suni, one of the new gals who joined us with an interest in learning how to knit, started on this cute assemble after seeing how cute stripes can get. Her color combination is a classic off white and grey sequence.

Here is another striking stripe combination by Mei. I would have never thought that turquoise and green are so complementary!

This is a finished project by Linda. She opted for this gorgeous rustic hued jersey, complete with a front button lapel and a plain colored collar to bring out the contrast.

Given the striping sequence, there was quite a lot of yarn ends to finish. [No, the usual twist and bring it up technique does not work as they are mostly odd-numbered rows.]

It was meant to be a gift for her friend living in Japan.

As you can see, there can be a lot of creative combinations that babies and toddlers can wear very well. So do not be afraid to experiment. Sharing is sexy
