Say zoom!

In case you think Singapore knitters are taking a break or slowing down for the Chinese New Year festive break, you really need to think twice.

Here's some proof:

Vogue Knitting magazine cardigan with frilly edging

All these knitting progress since beginning of January this year. Felicia has *amazing speed* on the needles for a knitting beginner!

Next up:

beginner lace knitting

7 inches of work since we first went through the instructions (also during first week of January when this is started.) Joey is also gaining speed too!

This is Joey's third project.
  • Starting with with a scarf,
  • she progressed to making a winter hat
  • and now she is knitting this: a spaghetti top!
This project is listed as *experienced* in the magazine but I have strong faith that she'll be able to complete this without much of a hitch. In fact, when Joey was here yesterday; she was knitting along without the pattern sheet! Talk about memorizing this pattern.... I have to say I'm so proud of her.

About memorizing, Joey also agreed that it was the circumstances under which she was put to test -- she was hanging out with her friends and she wanted to knit. She brought along her project but had forgotten about packing her pattern sheet. So she had to *read* her stitches on the needles and gradually, she managed to figure it out and commit to memory. Isn't that great?

Sometimes with knitting, you just need a push -- there may be discomfort but there's always be light at the end of the tunnel and you'll feel so good about yourself when you accomplish and meet your goal!
